Ripping/Saving Tracks from Large Numbers of CDs

If you want to selectively get Tracks from many CDs, chances are that you'll probably want to listen to a Track, decide whether or not you want to add it to your collection, and then add it to a list of Tracks to get later on (you wouldn't want to rip it right away because that would prevent you from listening to the other Tracks and CDs that you want to evaluate).  MediaMonkey allows you to do this easily, using the Virtual CD Queue, as follows:

  1. If you haven't already, Configure the Virtual CD .
  2. Insert your CD.
  3. Listen to Tracks, and select the ones that you want to rip (or copy).
  4. Click Copy to Virtual CD Queue .
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 until you've gone through all of your CDs.
  6. Click the Virtual CD Queue node, and and click Save to Virtual CD .  MediaMonkey will rip the selected CD Audio Tracks or copy the Tracks as is (if they are already compressed) to the Virtual CD. If a Track cannot be found because the CD is no longer inserted, you will be prompted to insert the CD.

Note: If you wish to interrupt this process at any time, simply right-click on the status bar near the bottom of the screen, and click Terminate. If you wish to reduce the amount of CPU cycles used during the process, you may similarly right-click on the status bar, select Change Priority, and choose a lower priority level.

Once all of the Tracks from all of the CDs have been saved to the Virtual CD, you'll notice that in the Library, the Locations node has an entry for each CD, and all of the Tracks on the CD are part of the Library. The Tracks that are accessible (i.e. those that were saved to the Virtual CD) appear in black, while the Tracks that are inaccessible (because the CD isn't inserted and the Tracks weren't saved) appear greyed out.
